That's why my bike has a carb and I can easily do all of that stuff myself, for the price of the parts I get from Ebay or J&P.

Slip-ons and the AC you can do yourself. If you want to save a little on the remap call Texan HD in Conroe or Goe HD in Angleton as their shop rates are about 2/3 of what Mancuso charges. Independence HD in College Station is probably cheaper also but have never been there.

Or you could always get a hold of Jamie at Fuel-Moto. You already have the big (heavy) parts in the exhaust and you can order an air filter and PC3/5 from him with a good remap already loaded. His prices are very reasonable and you can probably walk away under $500 for the additional parts.

Pipes if just slip-ons should take you 1-2 hours to install and maybe 2-3 if its full pipes.
Air filter should take you maybe 30min-1 hour to install
PC3/5 fuel management system 30min-1 hour to install

I paid cash - the dealer made me feel cheap for not financing!

Gain about 10 hp for under $400. Lasts for the life of the bike. The Cobra runs down stream from the ECM and tells it to add fuel to get to the ideal 12.1 to 1 afr. Bike runs cooler besides stronger.

I never understood HD tunes as they follow EPA mandates and the bike will run lean with them.

From what I've read a 12:1 A/F ratio is not Ideal, it might be for full throttle accel. but not just cruising along...

Most tuners will tune between mid 12's to even up to the 14's for performance and best mileage. different settings for different throttle positions..

Read through this thread for more info.

how long you had the cobra on your bike any negative to it , tried a terry components on a couple bikes and they were ok but way pricier the cobra sounds pretty interesting

The dealer service guy left me pretty confused on this basic question: Do you have to have a tuner to adjust the AF ratio on an efi bike? Right now, I'm not trying to wring every last fp of torque and every last HP out of it. I just want the fuel ratio set so that the bike runs in spec, and so that I wont damage the engine or discolor the pipes. If I put a less restrictive AF on it with the new pipes, is my only option some tuner, cobra, etc... that will add 300 to 800 bucks to the cost of the job?

My Dealer (Lighthouse in Huntington NY) actually did and does quite the opposite. He is supportive of me turning my own wrench and offers critical advice all the time.

before you put the pipes on make sure you have everything you need. If they do not have O2 sensor plugs and you install a tuner you will need those. And i would suggest buying new gaskets and replacing the old ones as well.

Also, an alternative to a fuel management system would be the HD stage 1 map. They can download that for you and it usually costs about $100 to $150.

Do everything else yourself.
