Default How long to wait after prostate cancer ??

I had my prostate removed 5 weeks ago and I have had two different opinions on how long I have to wait to ride my Harley again.
My Doctor said to wait 3 months other wise it could create some scar tissue and give me problems later. Another Doctor (a friend and Harley rider) said if it was him he would be back riding in 1 month.
I guess I'm reaching out to see if anyone else has gone through this and how the outcome was for them. I want to get back in the saddle as soon as possible.

I would give it another month. Finish healing first. Scar tissue in that region is not the most comfortable of things to deal with. Also have you regained all of your strength back ffrom the surgery?

The incontinence is not bad, getting better every day.The catheter was taken out almost 3 weeks ago and I'm using 2 pads in 24hr. They saved both nerves but still no erection. I feel great and will start playing tennis again next week.
The end of my three months will be Aug 1.I will wait if I find out that it is really necessary.

Had mine removed last March. Took my first long weekend ride ( 700 miles plus ) three months later. I was still a little weak but for me the big issue was the bladder control. I was ok as long as I was on the bike but couldn't stand for long periods.
For me full recovery took a year but rode all summer long.
Hang in there, it will get better.

As long as you are comfortable, not having pain while riding, and have proper support and cushioning from your seat, go for it. Take it easy, if it doesn't feel right, don't do it.

thanks to all that replied.
I think I'll do what the doctor said and wait 3 months.
I'd rather loose an extra month of riding instead of regretting it for the next 20 years.
If anyone has any new information I'm still all ears.
Thanks

2002 went under the knife and six weeks later was riding with zero problems to this day. Your body will tell you what you are able to do, just ease into it.
Ride safe.

Fortunately, I don't have any experience with that but I hope you're back in the saddle soon.
