Question Stage 1 Upgrades for 2011 Road King

Hey everyone,

I wanted to get a good idea of what Stage 1 components to upgrade to for my new FLHRC. This is my first H-D.
There are many different combos, I know, but I am limited to
~$1200-$1500.-, so I want to get the best bang for the buck.
I was considering a Fuel Moto USA set-up w/ Jackpot Mufflers, or Vance and Hines Dresser Duals w/Wide Ovals.
Don't know about the best fuel management or A/C options.
Any ideas would be most welcome.
Thanks!

I did my 2011 RK over the winter.

Arlen Ness Big Sucker Kit
Power Commander 5
Samson Headers
Samson 39" Fishtails

its like night and day now. she really came alive after that. Finding the right download for the PC5 is key. feel free to PM me and i'll help out the best I can.

ride safe,
Eric

Did you have the catalytic converters removed?

Thanks for the info Eric. I have heard good things about the Samson Systems.
If you don't mind, what did the total upgrade run you $$$-wise? I am pretty good with a wrench, but my bike experience is limited and I don't want futz it up.
Thanks again!

I am looking at something similar for my 2010 FXDC later this summer and wanted to do the work myself. Where do you find the PC5 download for your setup? I am looking at:

Arlen Ness Big Sucker Kit
V&H Big Radius 2 into 2
Power Commander 5

I read elsewhere here that fuelmotousa.com will ship the PC5 already programmed for your setup but I'm sure you pay a premium for that.

Using the Samson headers will eliminate the cats.

I got a pretty good deal because my best friend owns a harley repair shop. Get with Dr. V-twin (member of this site) and have him give you a quote on Samson exhaust. He beat everyones price for me. if you do the work by urself you should be able to stay in ur price range. feel free to pm me with any questions.

I believe my buddy got it thru 52/52? I will have to ask him. I havent put it up the dyno yet but it sure feels like its where it should be. We are having 52/52 come on june 24-25 for dyno days. I will see just where I stand then.

Fuelmoto will program your PCV for your setup when they ship it to you. You do not pay any extra for that! They will also tweak your program for you if needed, also for no charge.
