Need LEO opinion (or a lawyers)

Hire a lawyer and pay him to work on it. They have ways of working the courts sometimes. Second choice is just pay the ticket. Going to cost you either way---your choice. Not going to get into a bashing Leos thread but yours might have a problem. Sounds chicken ****.

When the judge ask you for your statement, You have about 60-120 seconds before he will get boarded listen to you. From what you say in the FP I would say. Your honor I was not aware I was breaking the law. I pride myself in careful driving and my driving record shows this. I ask for leniency from you and the officer. You got to lose the attitude he set you up. He could have been distracted doing his job and you charged the intersection. The law is the law. Accept it. What you did in you area may be safe but in my area it could have had tragic results. You cannot decide on your own were you obey what laws. You only hope is leniency in that you did not understand the law.

Go to court dress for the part. Sports jacket shirt and tie all that ****. Don't bad talk the cop to the judge. Explain what you did. See if you can get it knocked down. Some time you can talk to the LEO before you see the judge. He can recomend that the judge knock it down to a lesser charge. The guys a dush bag. But you gotta play nice.

"I had confronted him about this and I get I am the law, I say that doesn't mean you can break it. And we have no texting/ or use of electronic devices while driving. just something to chew on."
Your friend was right, (at least while operating an emergency vehicle). I don't know about the state you live in, but, where I'm from LEO's are exempt from these laws while operating an emergency vehicle in the performance of their duties.

Another way to look at it is, while you were just riding doing what everybody does the LEO was probably thinking,
"who in the heck does this guy think he is? Breaking the law right in front of a cop!"

It's a perspective thing , cop was probably thinking " lets see if this yokal takes the bait "

Yeah, the old right turn sting. They teach it at the academy. What you do is just drive down the road, minding your own business and that sets up the people around you to do illegal stuff, so you can write them tickets.
See, he knows. The old "right turn" bait - I'll bet he signalled first, just to throw you off balance. Probably took a bribe to set you up for "the man."
