Default No DOT=Ticket=Tow. West Virginia

We went on to Charlies Harley in Huntington One of the girls there was saying if the cop pull you over they can and will tow your bike. over a f'n helmet violation. WTF Do they tow your car over a seat belt violation? No
Any way I got that off my chest and I went on and bought the wife and myself Hybrid helmets. We like them enough that we are retiring our skid lids. ride safe.

I believe the reason is, the pepps can fasten thuer seatbelt after they sign the ticket, while you cannot usually produce a DOT helmet, therefore the bike gtes towed . When you go to pick it up be sure you jave a DOT helmet, or they won't release the bike to you.

Ditto - in cage a seatbelt violation is easily corrected (click it or ticket)...if you don't have DOT helmet & can't produce one in timely matter = bike gets impounded. If you live/ride in DOT state...just wear proper headgear & you're good.

If they pull you over for a seat belt violation and you have removed the seat belts from car, then yes they will tow your car...

It always works better is you compare apples to apples....

That is true apparently. I just barely received a Ticket in Stowe Vermont for unapproved head gear (non DOT helmet). Although I was feeling very unlucky, the cop told me it was my lucky day and to not ride through Stowe again without the proper equipment, because he could have had my bike towed and impounded.

That 125.00 ticket could have paid for my new DOT helmet.

If the law for the state you're riding in says you have to have a DOT, then man up and wear one, it's not rocket science.

I don't agree with the law but I have enough sense to wear an approved helmet to keep from getting my bike towed. Nanny state for nanny goats.
