Anyone else getting Condensation in their Harley LED Lights?
#21
Just so everyone knows, The "A" revision isn't a fix... It just delays the fogging of the lens. I originally bought the LED unit when they were first released for the Dyna models. I was happy with it, but after a few months, I had the condensation problem. Harley exchanged it, and now my replacement light ("A" Revision) is now showing condensation on the lens after riding a few miles. Of course, I've had this replacement for a couple years, so there's no warranty left. As much as I love how bright the LED headlight is, I would have never spent $400 on it had I known that a couple years later it would need replacement. For $400 I was expecting the LED unit to outlast the bike.
I don't have the original light assembly anymore, so now I'm stuck buying a new one. I don't think I'll be buying the Harley light again.

But if you paid 400$ you should be pissed, I got that one a lot cheaper on Ebay.

Unfortunately, everyone I meet seems to point it out. Plus, the condensation is running down the inside of the glass creating streaks that I can't clean off. It is really starting to look bad. I tried to clean it up the best I could today, and aside from the smashed bugs are now removed, it looks just the same. Since mine came from the first batch of "revised" LED units, my guess is they are all going to start having the condensation problem soon.
EDIT: Yeah, I have always had the speedometer condensation issue as well. NOt sure what to do about that either, but the headlight fogs every time I ride, the speedometer only does it sometimes.

My revision "A" replacement lights are fogging also, seems like the passing lamps are worse than the headlight.
For what these lights cost, this shouldn't be happening.

I think LEDs in general are a mistake and waste of money. While they do give better night vision, you can barley see them in the daytime, where most of do most of our riding. The trade off is not worth it to me.
Go up a few wats in a conventional bulb and get the best of both worlds at a fraction of the cost.
