Shell's motorcycle fuel up policy.....
#181
Next time we ride together I'll be the one staying *far* away while you gas up... <G>
I've seen a couple of serious burn victims (industrial accidents) and just don't want to take any unnecessary chances that I might be one!

I have 20+ years of riding under my belt, and I was taught at a young age to dismount while refueling. It's not something I think about doing; I just do it. Seems to be a cautious/safe way to refuel. If some other idiot at the gas station does something stupid, it enables me to egress the area quickly and safely. My bike is replacable; people are not. Moreover, it gives me the opportunity to stand up and stretch the old get away sticks after riding for a while.

I know riders that sit on there bike while fueling up to get then extra gas they say. We recently rode about 700 miles with another couple, my bike gets 51 mpg and has a 6 gallon tank, his gets 31 mpg and has less that a 5 gallon tank. His excuse was unless I wanted to stop more often then he needed to fill it completely full, I told him I didn't mind at all but he says he always does it that way......Not for me, sorry guys!
