In my industry anything over the value of $20.00, even if given of free will, is considered a bribe. There is no room for misinterpretation. Annually I have to re-read the corporate policy and sign an acknowledgement.

I've worked for 3 different companies that had virtually the same policy.

Receiving a free tow would be a clear violation.

Punishment is swift and likely will involve termination.

But I work in private industry not the government. I had always assumed people on the taxpayers' payroll would have to abide by the same rules.

That's a bummer, but good thing you were headed to the dealer anyways.

So a state trooper doing 80 and getting ready to accelerate, what was the speed limit? 85......hmmmm

Glad you made it safe!

Same with my job, I can't accept ANYTHING as a gift or gratuity, if you get caught you are instantly terminated.

Not being able to haul much stuff comes with the bike I guess. I wouldn't change to another bike right now. The Rocker C is constantly getting compliments and having people look at it. I'm sure I'll get bored eventually though and move on, but for right now, I love it, flat tire and all!

At my job, only the bosses get to accept the gratuity left every year by the trucking companies that haul our products.
They share it with all the office workers. Not those actually loading the trucks though.
It's no wonder most of them are fat. All the free snacks given by the "thankful" venders.

I am sure the state troopers have certain towing places they call upon frequently. I wouldn't call it a bribe but maybe a way of saying "hey thanks for the business" or we appreciate you using our towing company. If a place I give a lot of my business to gives me a deal on something I don't consider it a bribe at all. I call that smart business.

It's not a bribe when you use to date the owner's daughter and his nephew was driving the truck.

Now that I sit back and read this, it sounds like some really back woods, hillbilly stuff.
