Walmart and Mobil 1 15w-50 availability?
I have been trying to buy a 5 quart jug of Mobil One 15-50 weight at local area Walmarts. Was about $22-24 It seems as if it is no longer a stocked item. Hmm?
I'd hate to have to spend mega bucks, on that $10-12 a quart equivalent.
(I change my engine and primary oils every 3000 miles).
Anyone else experiencing this? Or, is just "me" again?
I called 1800 WALMART and expressed my "concerns".

Those 5 quart jugs have been missing from the Wal-Mart shelves around here for over a year now...maybe longer. They first got harder and harder to find (empty shelf space) and then they were gone (no longer any shelve space dedicated to them).

I remember my lady and me riding a '65 magneto-Sporty with a tadpole seat 300+ miles for a must-make council run. We wore my old BDU's for the pockets that we stuffed with 15w50 Valvoline cans. Life of a prospect. Made it, too. She couldn't get off the bike when we got there. Better riding with the pack on the return trip stuffing oil cans in the saddlebags that had room.
We hopped Walmart's along the way for refills. That sucker drank the stuff and it's too bad you can't get it at Walmart anymore because they have a Walmart every other exit on a major highway, it seems.
....shame on you, Walmart.

I wouldn't use a car oil with friction reducers in it for the primary.. Not good for the clutches.
I've also read where the 15-50 breaks down after 1k in Harleys air cooled motors to about a 10-40 oil..
I buy mobil 1 V-twin when its on sale for $7.95. So @ 6 qts is $48. which is $24 higher than the 15-50.
I change 2x a yr so it cost me $48 more a yr using the V-twin for what I feel is a lot better oil for my bike.

AutoZone is selling Valvoline VR1 racing 20W50 for 4.69 quart at present. I wouldn't use it in the primary but it works well in the crankcase.

Back on track: Walmart has been phasing out the 5 gallon jug due to slow sales performance nationwide for at least a year now. If anyone can still find it at their local Walmart buy as much as you can.

Are we talking automobile oil or cycle oil here. I checked on the Mobil1 site and only find two oils that are "suitable" for 4 cycle mc engine a 10W40 racing oil and a 20W50 . I am under the impression that regular oil, suitable for autos is not suitable for bikes. Even my owners manuals state this and offer that certain oils, suitable for some diesel applications may be substituted if necessary. But to change over asap.
