New Fatboy breaks on first ride!
I bought a new 2011 Fatboy that broke on the first ride (12 km). The oil light came on and a lifter collapsed. I am debating how I should approach this with the dealer. It feels like I am now buying a used bike at new bike price. What would you do?

You should be given another NEW Fatboy and the dealer should get something from MoCo.... they have responsibility

I'd call MOCO and explain your feelings as you've done here.
They might have the dealer throw in some goodies on the house.

What they said. If not, I would hire a lawyer with a shiny suit. Do lemon laws apply to motorcycles?

You're not the only one.
I prefer the trolls who at least have an interesting BS story for their first/only post.

That's what happens when you get a softail....take it back and make them give you a real motorcycle...a Dyna...those last 2 or even 3 rides. You might want to buy a few extra twin cam engines if you plan on riding all Summer.
