My motto has always been " Black Eye for the Blind Guy " when I'm on the bike I call it re enforced drivers awareness training .

I feel the same way. Death vs. fender bender....

I think of my Ford Excursion as being close to the top of the food chain and my Dyna as being close to the bottom of the food chain. Hunter vs. hunted....

I'm with the others who say they tend to get a bit upset when you're threatened with serious injury or death. You try to avoid the idiots, but sometimes it just seems like they aim directly for you.

Now go the "headlight modulator" and "BAL" threads & tell us how you'd like the idiots to see you before they swerve into your lane.

I think it's normal to react more aggressively when on a bike. You're so much more vulnerable and there's not much room for error.

How about next time you trust your initial instincts...you stated that you identified her car as a potential hazard long before she made her move. So, next time GO WITH YOUR GUT and years of experience and get away from the hazard vehicles when you see them. At least stay the hell out of her 4-8 oclock sector. You should have gone to the left lane and stayed in her 9-12:00 sector. because you already KNEW what this idiot was going to do.

Don't expect anything from any of these people driving out there. It is 100% your responsibility to keep yourself safe.

OR...you might as well get up at dawn and stand on an overpass bridge and give them all the finger for an hour before you start your commute.

Admittedly, my post-incident conversations have often gone like this:
"DON'T (thump) EVER (thump) DO (thump) THAT (thump) AGAIN (thump), AZZHOLE (bash)!"
I'm getting too old for this. Someday, somebody's gonna make me sorry. But not today.

Anytime you mention blind spots and someone not seeing you ----should set off warning bells. Her fault for putting you in a nine line bind but your fault for somewhat expecting it but letting it become a close call. Has happened to me in the past but now I seem to ride more defensive. I lost some of the anger when I realized that most of the time it wasn't personal just people being stupid.
