Default Headlight Modulators - Yes or No

On a ride this weekend I passed a motorcycle using a headlight modulator. I must say, he was very visible. In a different thread I read today, someone mentioned them. So, my question is, are you using one, thinking about it or not interested?

My headlight bucket is loose, it shakes enough to be very noticeable.

I know they are perfectly legal in all states per federal law. But my opinion is they are a good way to get pulled over by a LEO that doesn't know the law or doesn't know the differance in "modulating" and "flashing". Just not worth it to me. If I need to be more visible I flip my headlight to high beam or turn my spots on.

I took mine off for two reasons:

1. People kept flashing back at me. Don't really know why.

2. My cousin had a car turn in front of him and even gave him the "thank you wave". She thought he was flashing her as to tell her to go ahead with your turn.

They seem safe until you experience these things. I feel they are unsafe now.

I'm running this one on my Road King and Dyna:

http://www.comagination.com/modulator.htm

Easy to install, turn off if I want to and definitely more noticeable to traffic ahead of me.

I have one and will not now ever ride without one. Had a LEO pull up to me at a red light and tell me I had a problem with my headlight. I explained what it was and he said that he was going to have his kid put one on his bike also. People notice

Been riding with one for the last couple hundred thousand miles.

They definitely help people see me that otherwise wouldn't.

They also confuse some people...but at least they see me.

Never been pulled over by a LEO for it.

Some people STILL DON'T see me.

They are irritating, but to me worth it.

It is like any other part or accessory you are thinking about adding. If you like it, get it. If you find it is not for you, you can take it off.
You will find that there is a large variety of opinions about this.

There are those that feel that it should be illegal for anyone to use, say they know someone that was jailed for using them, and will not talk to anyone that uses them. That group will make the most replies and blast the Headlight Modulators. Even say that you are not a Harley rider, just a Honda rider on a Harley.

They are legal for use in all 50 states and Canada.
They have been shown to make the motorcycle more noticeable. They will not replace riding skill. Just be an additional safety option.

As a retired LEO, it is know by almost any educated LEO that they are legal. Anyone that will say you will get pulled over and ticketed for it is not in Law enforcement and just giving scare tactics to try to impose their opinion.

No. Not interested. I just flick from low to high beam (But I do not flash it) when encountering people getting ready to pull out or turn in front of me.
