This is from there web site.. http://www.gatlinburginn.com/

I agree, such a rule will do nothing but get you in trouble. Someday a lawyer will ride in there and be denied a room. Then they may change. Now I ride a motorcycle, but if I happen to go there in my car I am OK? Sounds like a stupid rule put in place by stupid management.

One thing there is no shortage of in Gatlinburg is motels that want your money. Why waste time with one that doesn't?

Thanks for posting, I'll make sure not to stay there whenever we visit the area, and I'll be sure to pass this on go family and friends.

You should have told them not to worry, that your motorcycle isn't getting a room, you are. I am also having a flashback of that scene from Easy Rider where they pull up to that motel and the manager quickly changes their sign from "Vacancy" to "No Vacancy".

First problem the OP had was having a AARP card in his pocket.

I guess we need to get rid of Motorcycle only campgrounds also? A private business (SHOULD) have the rights that the founding fathers gave us of serving who they want and not serving who they want. This country has destroyed those rights by laws that strip a private business of deciding who to do business with.

I completely agree honestbob, in fact I believe, in that spirit, that anyone who disagrees with the OP should not be allowed on this forum. So which way is it a free country everyone can do what they want or only certain people can do what they want. I see it as they are limiting everyone the right to stay the night on a motorcycle as apposed to allowing one owner to dictate what he wants, not based on safety or security, but because he has a preconceived notion. That is the very definition of discrmination. Of course that is merely my opinion and of course in the interest of not offending anyone I am not entitled to convey it. Welcome to USSA. comrade. No one should be denied anything simply because of their choice of transportation. Including campgrounds.
