Cool Waving Experiment

I went for a bicycle ride today and I was bored (the battery in my mp3 player being dead didn't help) so I decided to give the low 2 finger wave to everybody I saw on 2 wheels. Yes, I am an avid cyclist and ride 2,000 to 5,000 miles per year. And you think a stock harley seat can get uncomfortable...

anywho...

I saw a bunch of kids on bmx bicycles, not one wave returned. Didn't expect any really. I dont think any of them even noticed.
About 12 older people on bicycles, not one wave returned.
I stopped counting motorcycles at 20 (but kept waving) only one wave returned.

That one was a middle aged man on a . He wobbled pretty bad when he waved back. I thought he was gonna crash. Was probably the fist wave he's gotten on that thing and wasn't going to pass up the chance to wave back.

None of the cyclists seemed to know what I was doing. I did get some "strange" looks from some of the motorcyclists tho. A few head shakes like they couldn't believe that I was actually doing that.

Have any of you ever waved at a cyclist? Or had a cyclist wave at you? That could've been me.
Yes I know I just started another waving thread.

Cyclists don't typically wave. Same as I don't reach out my car window and wave at other vehicles...

Well I had a new experience today and it was not a cyclist waving at me. I was splitting lanes in extremely heavy traffic and some guy in a big truck decided to yell "Woooo" at the top of his lungs a s I passed by. No margin for error where i was splitting and it scared the crap out of me. I wanted to stop go back and Wooo him too, but there was nowehre to stop.

I once waved at a guy on a moped. I'm almost ashamed to admit it.

I waved at a guy on a scooter the other day. Thought it was a sport bike rider at first. Until I passed him. My buddy at work was following me and called me out on it too

I had a Jeep (YJ6) for a bit, and they all wave at each other, or at least nod. I hear the same thing goes with Corvette owners, but as I've bever even ridden in one, that's just hearsay.

Same thing happened to me a few years ago coming out of Palm Springs with the traffic almost stopped because of lanes closed by construction work. Wonder if it was the same woooo guy. It was a white chevy dually.

Rode out to Borrego Springs today. I waved at everything on two wheels. Harleys, metrics, scooters and bicycles. Got about a 75% return. Nice weather for a ride.
