Ruidoso NM Aspencash Rally

Wish I were going. But for any that do, see if there is still a resaurant there called "The Brown Trout" great little place to eat. If its still open I would suggest eating there if you get the chance. Sorry can't help you with the location, don't know Ruidoso that well.

I guess we missed each others threads. I posted too asking if anyone was going. Coulda met up and rode. It was the first one we had been to since our accident in 07. It didn't seem as if there were as many vendors there. And the guy that had all the Show Chrome stuff wasn't there. I won a new leather jacket on one of the contingency drawings. I broke the spring on my kickstand going over a cattle guard over in White Oaks. Barnett was there and they had a spring. Cost me 29 bucks for the spring and labor to put it on. Glad they were there. It sure beat my wife having to tie up the stand and untie it everytime we stopped or left someplace. I hope you had a good time there. I can't wait for Aspencade in September.

Seemed like attendance was down a bit for this year but the weather was great! A bit of wind to deal with but thats pretty much normal around here. Cool temps above 7000 feet make wearing leather all day very comfortable. Ruidoso and Cloudcroft area is just so nice to ride. Alamogordo was summer temps and warm. People were sure paranoid about the fire danger in the area! City wide smoking ban, all the park facilities closed in all of Lincoln National Park. Really dry this spring. Headed up to Red River Rally next weekend for Memorial Day rides. My favorite rally in New Mexico!

Red River Rally
Enjoy the rally up in the high country. Remember one year went up with the ex, n ended up with about 2" snow one morning. People were freakin out wondering what to do. Ahhhh, the good times...
If ya get a chance n haven't been there, check out the Vietnam Vet's Memorial just outside of Angle Fire. It's a good ride if ya go up through Questa, Taos, then back round to Angel Fire. Helps keep us mindful of our Brothers lost in conflicts past.

we were in ruidoso last week for the rally...nothing special. trade show was a joke--t-shirts, bling, novelty helmets, and a few leather goods. lots of wind and tight slots at the casino...did you know that you can not drink while gambling in new mexico--and forget free drinks! stopping for a couple of beers in cloudcroft on the way out of town was the high light of the whole trip. we won't be back. til thompson's old aspencade was a much better rally.

Would have to agree with Dan Connor. The rally is just a nice little rally in the mountains. The fall version, Aspencade, is better attended and has more vendors (do we need more chit?). Heavily attended by riders from Texas seems to me. Riding in the area and over to Cloudcroft and such is nice. Looking forward to Red River Rally this weekend!
