If it's gone away it was more than likely a foreign matter and burnt off...Just ride it a while and if it comes back get it checked out.

New pipes often have that smell for a short while.

I had that burning rubber smell a few days ago. Turned out it was the heel of my right boot! Now searching threads on removal of rubber from pipes!!
