How to waterproof my leather jacket
#31
I got a can about twice the size of the largest shoe polish tin at the Daytona Beach Biketoberfest about 2 years ago. I've used it on everything including my saddle and riding clothes. There's a website on the tin, www.ridersleatherseal.com . The company is 4 Bees Sake, Milwaukee, WI. Mink oil is good too, but I've really liked this stuff. I used to use Neats Foot Oil too. Remember as a kid breaking in a new baseball mitt?

pecard makes the redwing oil and it's made in green bay wisconsin. it doesn't get any more made in the USA than that.

Well...you've had lots of input on what to use, what not to use and where to get it. Hope you find something soon. The Spring weather will get damper, then the rains will come, but you don't have to worry any more.
The next thread from you should be on "How to water-proof yourself for wet riding".
Ride dry.

I find that just regular shoe/boot polish works pretty good. Work it into the seams with a brush and do a good buff on it and you're good to go. May need more than one coat. Although I've heard that the spray on silicone is good stuff too. After all you're not standing in water, the wind blows most of it off your jacket

Want to find leather care products. Go to a horse tackle store. Every thing that you need including advice on caring for leather products. They only have a couple hundred years of experience with leather care.

Wonder if you can combine the treatments?
Melt some Beeswax into the stitching and use Mink Oil everywhere else?
Regardless, where would a person buy Beeswax? I've seen Mink Oil products on shelves before, but I don't remember seeing Bees Wax...
Would it be in the leather care section right next to Mink Oil? Various Brands?
