As was said previously, upgrade the motor on your deluxe to a 103" and you'll be proud and loud. Plus, you'll own it with no payments and that gives a whole lot more pleasure. I do believe that you mentioned you'd have to start all over again in the mod department? Well if you upgrade the deluxe you won't have to. And that's money in the bank or your wallet if your prefer.

Trade it as quick as you can! HD needs your money now. And, add a lot of $ stuff to it.

My last bike was an eGlide... years back I had Heritage Classic (similar to your bike I guess). As far as ride was concerned, I felt they both rode well, no appreciable difference. What the eGlide had of the Heritage was :

6 gallon tank - I take a lot of long trips, and that extra range was nice.
Cruise control - Made ripping across Utah and Nevada a breeze.
ABS brakes - those times I had to mash the brake it made a difference.

The other "features" the eGlide boasted, like hard bags, fairing, stereo, really weren't a big deal to me either way.

I say keep the bike you have now. Upgrade the motor to103 if you like - also go for the 6 speed cruise drive tranny. You'll love it.

I didn't want to spend the big bucks on a new RKC so I bought a nice used '09 and am very pleased with it. If I were set on a new scooter, I think would wait for a 2012.

I'm really digging a 2011 Road King Classic. The 103 motor is the *****. The king rides great. BUT, it ain't cheap and i'll be starting over at stock and spending another crapload o' cash.

Figure i can get 10-11K trade for my deluxe. MSRP on the RKC is about 21K.

Help me out guys. What should i do. Is the RK really that much more comfortable a ride. Of course i test rode her but 10-20 miles just doesn't tell enough. Advice..............
I'm with the others who say keep the Deluxe. Do a few motor mods if you feel it needs it. Is your suspension stock? Upgrade the suspension on your bike. If the RK rides better, does it ride $10K better? Of coarse the best option is to save money to ADD a RK to the collection...

Buddy has a 03 RK, and just bought a 03 FB, over 6K in mods and only 8300 miles. Got it at a Honda dealer for $11k

Might just look for a used RK for what U'd pay diff and keep the Lux.

Nothing anyone says will make up your mind for you. But I will say this. I had an RKC for almost 6 years, and traded it on the Softail in my sig. No regrets whatsoever. At first, the bagger may seem like a good idea. But after a while, unless you really log the miles, then you'll find it sits more than you ride it. Why, you ask? Well, because it's not the same type of ride.

Baggers are great for what they're made for. If it was me, I'd keep the deluxe. Only time I ever miss my bagger is on a long trip, and then, I don't miss it much.

I'd suggest finding a good used police roadking '09 or newer. You'll save some money on the swap and still get a 103. Then you'll have fun making it the way you want.

ride what you have and what is paid for.

Right now cash is king.... meaning that in our country its not a good time to spend your money on stuff you dont need or already have.

IF you can sell your bike first and then pick up a new one then cool.

OK, thanks for all your comments. Looks like about 22 to 3 in favor of keeping the Deluxe and the 10 Grand that goes along with it. Thanks for keeping me in check.. Dealer ain't gonna be happy. Oh Well.
