Default helmet wind buffetting issue

Hey All,

Just getting back into riding (08 Softail H Classic) and am experiecing bad wind buffetting at highway speeds with my 1/2 helmet.
Tried cutting windshield down another inch and that did not help.
Borrowed a friends 3/4 helmet and was a lot better.
Love the feel and freedom that my 1/2 helmet gives.
Any suggestions so I don't have to go to a 3/4?
My brain rattles enough without the wind.

Thanks Glenn

No helmet, no windshield, no problems.

you either have to cut the windshield so it's no more than chest high or buy one that's tall and you have to look through it to ride...or take it off.

There are also the "fangs" or wind deflectors.

Went through this on my Fatboy. The fix was a 9" screen from Cee Baileys. I know that sounds low but it eliminated the buffeting and it looked GREAT. I had mine on a Windvest bracket.

They work really well. Almost everybody that has installed them won't give them up.

Unfortunately, not an option in NC, where the OP lives. It really aggravates me that the southern states, that usually have a little more respect for individual freedom in other areas, are mostly helmet states.

Far as I know, cutting thewindshield is to reduce windshield buffeting - I think that would increase helmet buffeting.

A higher windshield at the right angle might help, but for the most part, if you wear a helmet, it's going to suck. That's why I usually wear sunglasses and sunscreen for my protective gear.

just put a set of lower wind deflectors on my fatboy.. what a huge difference.. it'll take 98% of the buffetting away. if you do get them, make sure you put them on the correct side.
