Default Back In The Saddle

Nope, not the Aerosmith song, although it kicks a$$ too.

Went to the doctors on Wednesday for my 6 week post-op (back surgery) check up and although the healing has been a slow go, he gave me the thumbs up to ride again. Whooohooo!

I still have some leg nerve pain and foot numbness / tingling after walking about a mile but he said it's most likely residual nerve pain from the damaged nerve. He's not sure if it's permanent or not but we should know more after some physical therapy.

Anyways, today was my first ride since October of last year and it was AWESOME!!! I intended to start slow and take it easy. 113 miles later, I made it back home. Ooops!

Anyways, it felt great to have the wind in my face again.

Congrats from a fellow back surgery rider! (Although one who never did listen to his doctor when he said I couldn't ride.)

Sounds like your doing well after surgery..just dont push yourself to hard..I have severe Neuropathy so I deal with the numbness and pins and needle feelings on a daily basis.. That part of it sucks ,but I try to keep it in check..Good Luck

Good to hear you are able to get back in the saddle again. My wife after her last spinal surgery had to give up riding. It took a year before we sold her bike just hoping she could again.

I only missed about three weeks on the bike when I was in the hospital a few years back. But I do relate to what you feel. Take it slow and easy until your fully recovered. And enjoy!

Thanks all!

I agree with the slow and easy, however telling me that is like telling a meth addict, just one fix. ;0) I'll try to keep it in check.
