Cusp of autumn. Less rain than spring, but still getting chilly enough you don't have to worry about the suffocating heat.

I agree, that was my vote on the poll. october is usually better temperatures and dry, although I have seen it cold and raining toward the end. I think if you are spending plenty of time, I'd start at the end of September to beginning of October.

As others have said, it all depends upon your route. But, even though I voted for June (early June), the first two weeks of September are a very close second. No snow in the mountain passes and long past thunderstorm season.

We did a full circle around the country in 08. Left N.C. the last week in June and got home the end of July. We could not get all the way thru Glacier because of snow still in the passes. There was still pleanty of snow on bearthooth and we had to go around fires in northern Ca. Still 90% of our miles were on dry road I think all that was part of the experience and I would vote for late June thru July.

Well, I can tell you fellas this - I lived in Wyoming nearly 20 years, and you don't want anything to do with Wyoming til at least July. Fact.

Living in Yuma Arizona, August is the best time to cross the country because it is to darn hot in Yuma in August to stay here and ride.

OVER 110 DEGREES MOST DAYS, SOME OVER 115

But it is a dry heat.

NORTH!!!!
