Dish soap is great for dishes, but on the bike is also very effective in removing wax as werll as any oil or protectant from screws, bolts and washers and other fittings. This enables them to rust a lot easier and quicker..

Something about it. Not sure what it is. But a detailer told me that a long time ago. Told me to avoid car washes that used it because after the spray wax was applied, the rinse would just take it right back off. Check around at any of the car detailing forums and they will tell you the same................

as well as telling you all about this. Dish soap is the worst thing you can use on a car or bike unless you're planning on spending the next several hours protecting it with a good wax job.

By the way, two coats of wax? Forget it. Wax also will remove the old layer of wax as you apply it. Two coats is only working up a sweat. Not doubly protecting it.

When I went to Autozone to buy some car wash soap yesterday, I saw that Turtle Wax Ice car wash said it would not leave water spots. Well it did, I did not see any difference between it and a $5 car wash soap. It was $9.99 but it was on sale for $6.99.

Shhh, man, the federalis might find out about your 'still.' Besides, you don't pour that on your bike, you sip it after the wash!

Tell that to someone who paints cars for a living....
You make it sounds like it only needs to be used once and it'll strip the wax/oils/etc. right off the vehicle...Sure it'll take a little at a time, but I wouldn't go so far as saying it's "very effective".
We use dish soap at work on company vehicles at least once per week and we keep those vans until they are 5 years old. They still look good when we sell them.

I was under the impression that dish soap contained salt which is why it should only be used for dishes????

IF you're using cleaner wax, there is wax that you can apply that will build up.
