Looking at a leftover 06 Springer I'd really like. Dealer offered $20k out the door. I'm tempted. I have a VERY new Suzuki cruiser. Never mind why. Anyway, can I expect a dealer to concider it in trade and if so, are they fair? By fair I'm wondering if I get the same whtether I trade at HD or Honda dealer.

 

Some dealers will. I think most dealers won't. For sure you won't get a fair trade in and that's probably true at the Harley dealership or the Metric dealership. You would be alot further ahead to sell your bike yourself. True the one you're looking at to purchase will probably be gone but you're coming up on a time of the year where there are many used bikes available to choose from. Another thing to think about. After you've sold your bike and you start looking for your Harley, you'll save alot of money by buying from a private party and not the dealer. He will screw you as bad on selling you a used bike as he will on giving you trade in value for your bike. I know my dealer likes to take all the accessories off the trade ins they get and that way when they sell the used bike they can now again re-sell new accessories for the same bike they sold accessories on when it was new. Go figure!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

 

I have seen metrics at the local stealers here so I guess they will take them as a trade in. However, I don't know if you get much out of them or not with a metric. As stated before you'll do much better selling it on your own.

I traded my 2003 VS1400 Intruder for a 2006 XL1200C Sportster. The dealer gave me $5000 for the Intruder. I was very satisfied.

 

I traded my 99 Honda Shadow and got more for it than I paid 6 months previously. I guess it all depends on the dealer.

 

Some dealers will ,I bet most wont.The ones that will take the trade will not give you much for it.
Metrics loose their value fast(depending on age) even if your lucky to sell it to a private party.
If anything you may get NADA Guide price or Kelly.

 

I traded a Honda Silverwing SCOOTER in on my Deluxe. The dealer gave me exactly what I asked for it and had it sold the next day.

Most dealers will, tho you rarely see it. Most likely because they do not generally give great trade-in values, so people sell their own.

Utica HD will, i traded in a 05 Honda Shadow Spirit. They gave me a fair price and when you add the sales tax saving it was decent.
