Will dealers take metrics on trade in?

RE: Will dealers take metrics on trade in?
I'll give it a shot. I really want the Springer and there anren't many new ones left out there. This one is the color I want, within a few hundred miles, and appears to be the right price.
We bought the Suzuki S50 when we moved cross country so the wife had something a little smaller to ride around initially. She was a little nervous about the hills and such with the Sporty. A rental might have been a better idea. We didn't anticipate her getting her sea legs back so fast. Bike still has under 100 miles on it.
I'll post results if we go this route. Anxious to see what they will offer.

A friend of mine traded his metric at Doc's HD in Kirkwood, MO and told me they gave him an excellent deal He bought a used RK and said they gave him more than book for his trade in and charged him less than book for the RK

Heck, I think the dealer here will take a burnt matchstick if it means a sale... A friend of mine traded in one of those little 250 scooter things. (Don't ask) He stepped up and bought a new Wide Glide. They gave him a little less than what he thought he could sell it outright.

most dealers like taking metrics in, shows potential customers that metric riders are moving up to H-Ds.

Looking at a leftover 06 Springer I'd really like. Dealer offered $20k out the door. I'm tempted. I have a VERY new Suzuki cruiser. Never mind why. Anyway, can I expect a dealer to concider it in trade and if so, are they fair? By fair I'm wondering if I get the same whtether I trade at HD or Honda dealer.

One big issue in New York is sales tax, you only pay tax the the difference if you trade in
