High side fall leads to no low side action
Buddy of mine entered a corner a little too fast.... locked up the rear wheel and then released it as he neared a telephone pole. He was thrown and the bike tumbled on both sides...
The good news:
The good news:
- He is alive
- He was armored head to toe and no broken bones. Sore knees and wrist the helmet took a big blow but no permanent muscular skeletal injuries.
- The bike though totaled is insured.
- The impact of the fall severed his urethra internally.
- Prospects for having full function of two things very important to men is rather low.
- Some fates may be worse than death.

There is no safe---just safer. His gear my have saved his life but he overrode his skills. Still a hard lesson but he might also fully recover---------only time will tell. Hopefully a speedy and full recovery.

Sorry to hear about your buddy. That used to be a pretty common injury in auto racing too when we all wore the single anti-submarine belt on our harness. We did start wearing cups, then the sanctioning body mandated the double anti-sub belts. We still wore cups. When your legs are spread and the bike or car goes from XX mph to zero and you continue at the original speed, belts and/or frame necks and handle bars can do a lot of damage.

I'm pretty sure if that happened to me I wouldn't appreciate my "buddy" posting about it on the web. And I wouldn't like the thread title. Not something to joke about.

I don't get the idea that anyone here is joking about this accident. How do you figure?

No joke intended... It has been traumatizing. He also has not been identified. Sorry if you were offended.
