Default Need a new brain bucket.

Looking for a new half-helmet that's DOT but as close to a novelty helmet as you can get. Been trying on all kinds and they all sit up so high makes me look like a mushroom head. So, I'm throwing it out to all my scoot brothers for some opinions. Right now I'm looking at a Vega XTS, a GMAX G55, and a Skid Lid. Haven't found a place that has them in stock so I haven't been able to try one on. The online reviews I've read are all over the place on how people feel about them. Any guidance would be much appreciated.

Keep the chrome up and the rubber down.

I just bought a Skid Lid yesterday, my first 1/2 helmet. They are DOT helmets so they do have that mushroom look to them, we don't have a choice here in Oregon (don't get me started on that haha), I bought it because it seemed like the thinner of all the ones I'd looked at, and the price is right at about $35 give or take.

My son also runs the Skid Lid and likes it. You'll be hard-pressed to find any DOT that doesn't give you at least a bit of mushroomy-ness. You might check Leatherup and the Daytona websites, the Motorcycle Superstore isn't bad either.
Just for ***** and grins, you might try the HD half...it's not too bad and made by HJC I believe. Good luck!

Look at the outlaw helmets on the leather-up web site.

I will ride w a novelty all day. But I wont sit on a sport bike or dirt bike with out a snell approves helmet. I hit my head on a tree ao hars last hear it cracked a snell approved helmet. Aka it would of killed me. You know your rideing style. And ability. So wear a helmet accordingly

I recently bought a vega xts and the fit on my head is so much better than anything else I've tried. Has a better look but not novelty. There's a good thread going in the sfttail forum on this with alot of votes going to the outlaw carbon. I'm trying my 3rd exchange on an outlaw through leatherup and I'm afraid the helmet is just going to be a poor fit for my head shape. I also have a Rockhard 3/4 and love it.
