No letters or numbers on it? I'd say most likely British or maybe German or even Belgian flathead 250-500cc from around the late 20's early 30's.

I had two friends that had Pacemaker Whizzers, one of which was the first motorbike I got to ride when I was about 8 or 9 years old. It was a 48 model if I remember right. They had a great sound and ran pretty good. Sure brought back some memories.
