I need your advice. I was out of town this weekend and had a rear flat. The motorcycle repair place, in a small Texas town, had only a Dunlop Cruise Max to fit my bike, a 2008 Heritage. I now have a AVON Venom on the front and a Cruise Max on the back. Any problems running two different brands. Any experience with the Cruise Max over the Dunlop 401 or 402. I need your comments. Going on a 5 day road trip and do not want handling problems. Also, do not want to spend extra $$$ to match tires if it isn't a problem. Thanks for your responses. I trust you guys.

 

I don't see a problem, I very seldom have matching brands, front to
rear. Also, nothing wrong with a Dunlop.

 

Due to a similar circumstance I ended running a Metzeler Marathon on front and an Avon Venom on the back. Totally different tire and pattern.

Ran that way for almost 6k until a nail took out the Avon.

I'm guessing you will be perfectly fine.

 

I have a Metzler on the front and a Dunlop on the rear right now (thanks to a 3 inch bolt taking out a brand new Metzler on the rear)

 

My understanding is as long as you keep bias ply and radials away from each other you'll be ok.

 

Thanks. I just wanted to make sure. At least both tires are whitewalls so they look good. I drove 100 miles back home and didn't seem to have a problem. Hard to tell with 25mph winds hitting me sideways.

 

Metzeler on the back, stock Dunlop on the front. No handling issues.

 

Sounds like a good test to me.

 

Depends on what kind of riding you do, generally you'll want teh front to have teh same or better grip than teh rear.

 

used to be don't mix radials with bais..
But on the sons 09 NT it came with a radial on the rear and reg bais on the front when new.
