Default pics from today's ride in NW NC

Had a nice ride today -- started out foggy and chilly but warmed up nicely around lunch. First, the map of the route we took:

The pics below were taken right around the Elk **** State Park area on Meat Camp Road (location D on the map). Unfortunately the pics are all Blackberry quality. Our altimeter showed us to be at a little over 4700 ft here. Won't be any leaves on these trees for another few weeks.

This shot shows the highest point in my home county of Ashe, NC -- appropriately named The Peak (red arrow). The mountains in the extreme distance are in Virginia -- the one marked by the purple arrow is Whitetop if I'm not mistaken. If that's the case, the one to the right of it would have to be Mt. Rogers. Hard to tell due to the poor resolution of the picture.

Fairly decent shot of the road heading down the mountain.

Thank God riding season is finally here. Happy Easter everybody

We may have passed today on the 321 area, I rode through the Collestville area up Hwy 181 to the BRP over to Hwy 221 through Blowing Rock stopped at Woodland's for a BBQ sandwich then back down Hwy 321 to the house. That is some great areas to ride I ride them often.

The Linn Cove Viaduct from over my shoulder...lol

On the viaduct

From off 321 where they cut the mountain off just south of Blowing Rock

We may have passed you on 321 but who would know -- it was foggy as crap when we came through there!

I wanted to stop at Woodland's for lunch but one of the guys with us had to be back by 2. Gotta luv a good BBQ sandwich and a sweet tea

I'm in Hickory, and you made a great choice! Wish I could make that long a ride now. I would love to ride with you.

It is a great area for riding. Twisties galore and straights to clean out the pipes...lol Sometimes all on the same road.

Interesting. I was thinking of taking 421 north to 268 to 321 and up to boone and looping back to 421 tomorrow, supposed to be 80 something tomorrow.

Roads that look like that on a map...usually have a curve or two.
