the only people i know with a motorcycle endorsement is me and my dad and a few uncles..everyone else rode with temps or nothing for 20-30 years..i know two people that have gotten pulled over/tickets on a bike and never got in trouble for it..they could put you in jail with huge fines, and loss of your car license, which could lead to loss of a job..it is driving with out a license, the state doesnt like being cheated out of there money..

I rode without one for many years. I was involved in an accident (not my fault), went down. I ended up with lots of roadrash, 19 stitches, two broken ribs, a $300 ticket for riding without an MC endorsement and my bike towed which then cost another $350 to get out of impound.
Got my endorsement now and learned a few things in class while I was at it. I still know a lot of people that ride without one though.

It took me less than 30 minutes to get a permit at 18 years old. 2 weeks later it took me less than an hour for my hands-on test for a full license. Seems like a pretty easy task compared to all of the unknown implications of not having one.
That is me trying to be more respectful on the forum, because I actually have other things I would say to those without the endorsement.

i worked with a guy,he drove a huge flatbed hillbilly 4x4 pickup, had no license..driving home from work one day two girls in a station wagon flew threw a redlight and hit him,one girl was killed,he was arrested and charged with vehicular homicide because they said he shouldn't of been on the road with out a license.the accident wouldn't have happened.and your insurance thinks the same way..doing something illegal, they arnt responsable

Before I was 16 I rode quite a bit, mostly back roads. When I turned 16 I got my license, took about 20 minutes at the DMV. Had to go back at 18 to get upgraded for larger bikes. Took another 10 minutes. I don't remember the cost but it wasn't much and it doesn't cost anything extra to renew.

I know what a license is, but what the hell is an "endorsement"??? . . . . some Kind of a blue collar letter of recommendation for a job ????
Gotta play by the rules or you lose in the end.

Friend did it
I have a friend who rode for many years w/o a mc license endorsement. He told me one day that the insurance company checked his license thru the DMV and sent him a letter that basically said they would cancel him if he did not get his mc license. He did and is now good to go.
