Buy easy brackets and any set of aftermarket saddlebags that catches your fancy. If you opt for really cheap saddlebags, get a sheet of plastic of diamond plate and cut yourself a stiffener for the inside of the bag at its mounting point. Try not to get sucked into the "I have to buy from Harley" mindset. Its rarely the best bang for the buck option when dealing in leather type goods.

What he said..... Even if you don't think you'll need to remove your bags all that often, it's a good mounting system (and you will get into the habit of removing your bags--it's not a bad thing to have).
(What is the new reconfiguration, BTW? Sportsters never could take most HD bags anyway.)
