We hooked up with the California "Run for the Wall" bunch (Southern route) when they got into Virginia. Rode with them for the last couple of days going into DC and their ride "fee" was less than the savings we got back using their group discounts at the hotels, especially at the hotel there in DC area. You might look into that.
I'll ride behind the "Run For The Wall" northern bunch though Western Kansas then help feed them in Junction City Kansas, Sunday evening May 22.
Wish I could make it to DC. Thanks to the guys that do go.....

A great event. Never missed it when I was on the east coast. Ride safe, and make sure you take your rain gear. Out of 11 years it rained at least half of them. And drizzled on and off the other half. Plan on getting wet, but the parade from the Pentagon to the Wall is phenomenal. Great ride with tons of bikes. You'll love it.

Thanks for the info. I am going with a group that goes nearly every year and we have rooms downtown at the Omni for 50% off. Great hotel right in the middle of DC for 139 a night. Tough to beat that.

Yep. It looks like a few of us are going down. Our group gets smaller every year. What a sight to see all of those bikes in the Pentagon parking lot on Sunday morning. I get a lump in my throat every time that I see them.

I'm a vet and it's a great cause, but I'll pass -- just don't care for the crowds.

Actually, I'll be relatively nearby then -- in Colonial Williamsburg, VA that weekend.

Leaving from PTC Thurs or Fri. May stop in Charlotte where my son lives. What route are you considering. I am not a slab fan.

WIll miss this year, the first in a while. Was disappointed in the last couple of rides because of the traffic handling and the cops. They were ticketing you for parking almost everywhere. Missed a ticket by about 30 seconds one day and a couple of minutes the next day. Got gone before they got to me. Intersections were not blocked either. If we go in 2012, I think we'll watch from the side of the street rather than ride. Riding is awesome though. The best thing is just saying thanks to our Viet Nam vets, a number that get smaller every year.

Thanks Vets !
