Default Oops, wrong drain plug

Thought you might need a smile...

Did my first oil change on '07 RKC last night. Pulled plug, replaced filter, reinserted plug. Happened to notice it looked like I could still see oil through inspection hole. Inserted dipstick.. damn, I'm still full!

Yep, drained the primary. And, of course, I have no Formula + (and with 07 clatter problems I'm sticking with the HD spec). Good new is, it's 40 degrees and rainy so no riding plans today anyway (local dealer is closed). Could have been much worse.

What can I say? Dumb, dumb, dumb. Definitely a one-time-only lesson. Sure looked a lot different under there than my Sporty.

Hey barkster99 are you sure you didnt drain the tranny? Unless they changed the location of the primary plug on the "07s" it sounds like you may have pulled the plug for the transmission. The owners manual should show you the exact location of each plug...................BG

Yep been there done that , thought I could wing it on the wifes Hugger , NOT !

I Know my way around the Dyna,s and have the sevice manual . It didn't take long to get the service manual for the sporty .

Owners manuals on virtually worthless nowadays on most anything.

I thought the same. Two total different locations, but I suppose it could happen.

You can use a regular 10/30 or 10/40 in the primary with no problems. As long as they don't have friction modifyers in them , you'll be oK
