Stator Replacement
#16
yea it be a real easy job if you didnt have to remove the inner primary but that rotor just wont sqeeze by,if a shops going to do it for a hundred bucks hell you cant beat that, but i would ask wtf are you going to be grinding on, no grinding

$100 is a steal. Of course this has to be plus parts. If you go with the same output stator you can reuse the rotor if it has no damage or signs of wear. A lot of people say you should replace the regulator also. Are you confident in his abilities?

This guy is old school and the best Indy around. He's worked on my bike before and everyone I know uses him as well - pretty much anyone within 100 miles comes to this guy. It's not uncommon to 75 - 100K choppers in his shop.

Unless your '07 is completly different from my '99, Ol' Iron is either smokin' the specialy good chit, or off/on medication...as the situation dictates.
No need to pull the inner primary...ya'd have to have the stator off to pull it in the first place!!!!!!
You can get some very useful information on this forum...but you've gotta weed through a lot of keyboard commando mechanics.
Any "grinding" that would have to be done would be to the inside edge of the inner primary cover. This is necessary sometimes for clearance when you pull the rotor. Mine had been ground prior.
It ain't no big deal....make sure you talk with someone who's done it!
$100 is a good deal, but you can learn a little sumptin and save the bux.
Just sayin'
