Melted some of a cleaning rag on one of the wifes heat shields. Got a majority of it off but was going to replace it. This heat shield is the one that comes off the rear cylinder and is about 10 inches long. I figure dealership prices should be $70-80. WRONG...$180. Had parts guy double check price. He couldnt believe the price either and told me my best bet would be to go on ebay or craigslist and pick one up. After hearing the price I figured her heat shield didnt look to bad after all.

The only way to beat Harley's prices is to buy Jap bikes. No... wait... with them you have to replace them much more often... Never mind... (personally, I think iyt's halarious how Kowasocky and Yamerha keep advertising on this site... kinda like seeing a Van-de-Camp pork-n-beans poster at a Black Angus Restaraunt)...

It took me a couple of tries to get all the gunk off, but it came off. My old man yelled at me "you owe me a new pair of pants" and I replied "you owe me a new set of pipes" - we settled on calling it even.
