Wondering if any one on the form has had experence with motorcycle home study course by Penn Foster? What I have heard, they teach 2 and 4 stroke machines. Just curious if anyone here has done their course?

Thanks

I wouldn't count on getting a job because of it. But for your own personal knowledge, might be useful. Jmho

+1 on that. Your not getting real hands on experience of actually pulling an engine apart and having a mentor showing you the tricks of the trade.

I did it just last year , for what you learn it's worth it if you ask me .

But at the time I didn't have a bike that I really wanted to tear down
to do the hands on as I learned and it didn't deal with Harley at all .

I simply did it to learn how to work on my own bikes to save on the costly
dealer prices !

To me it was worth it , they have different payment methods , I chose to
pay it all at the beginning and it was just under $700.00 .

Hope this helps !!

Yeah , that was the problem , I couldn't for the life of me find a beat up
old bike to work on as I went through the program , but I still think it was
worth every penny , when it comes to working on my Harleys I get out the manual and I still have the books from Penn Foster as reference books
just in case , they just don't deal much with Harley engines .

I went through a 6 month HD course at MMI (actual motorcycle school) and thought it was a waste if money. Great experience, but not worth the expense and time. I guess it depends what you wanna do? Self edification? Get into the field? If the latter, even with degree, it's a tough market.

If Penn doesn't teach Harley, why take the class? I don't get it.

I did further checking and was reading they are all about the money.

I have thought about going to MMI for the whole course but we are talking 27k to complete. I'm wanting to take good classes so maybe can run my shop out of home. I do auto work as a hobby to include full retsore and wanting to try something else.

Thanks for the replies.

Well , I guess that was the hook , they said they did deal with Harley
before I signed up but never saw one mentioned in the course .

But I've got friends and family that run metrics so not that big of a deal
for the price !
