Hooked up the new electric gear
I picked up my heated jacket and gloves from the dealer this week. I was off off work early today so I decided it was a good time to install the harness and try them out.
Installing the battery harness was easy -- just a matter of ungrounding the battery and connecting up the harness and connecting the battery back up. The end of the harness -- the plug -- tucks up under the front of my seat nicely and cannot be seen when not in use. I liked that.
Anyways -- I had a short sleeve shirt on, the jacket liner, leather jacket, gloves, jeans and boots. Weather was sunny, windy in the low 50's.
Everything worked great. I tried the gloves and jacket on full power (I have the dual thermostat) and was real hot. In fact after about five minutes I began to sweat! So I rolled the jacket down to half power -- and still sweated. My hands were nice and toasty as well. So I have no doubt that these things will work great in sub-freezing weather.
The gloves are HUGE. The gaunlet part must come up 1/3 to 1/2 way up my forearm. I was actually afraid they'd be hard to drive with. But as large as they are, they are quite supple and I had no issues whatsoever. Anbd absolutely ZERO wind came up my sleeve -- that is impossible with these gloves.
Anyways...just thought I'd share. I can't wait to try this stuff out when it gets real cold. I am excited to think I may be able to extend my driving season to include most of the year. I'll check back in after my first ride in the 20s.

RE: Hooked up the new electric gear
After years of reading reports from riders raving about the heated gear, I finally broke down and bought a heated vest, arm chaps, and gloves. Would see reports from others noting "What took me so long?". I said the same after the first winter of riding with this gear. I know some car drivers look at me and think I must be freezing, when reality is I'm baking.

CosmicHD - which brand did you buy? Seems I have been one of the ones wondering if everyone raves about their heated gear due to the investment... year after year I keep freezing. The time may have come....

I have the Gerbing heated gear & love it. Thinking about updating the gloves to the new waterproof version. Has anyone tried those? I'm worried that they may be too stiff.
