Default I don't get Choppers

I'll probably get beat up for this, but I have tough skin..

I really don't get the whole chopper thing. I get Bobbers. I get customization and mods. I get restoring old bikes. I love motorcycles.

Choppers? It's taking a bike and reshaping it into a visually appealing (questionable) piece of art, that isn't nearly as functional as it was before. I just saw one at my local convenience store and it was a super stretched, super chromed thing like you see on the show, and it was all the guy could do to get it turned into the gas pumps and park it. I don't mean a tasteful rake like on the Wide Glide either.

I can see stretching the frame on a drag bike, but beyond that I don't understand why someone would bother. Can someone help me out?

Agreed. No bashing here. Just wondering why some people would spend 30k+ on one when they could get so much more motorcycle for their money.

Different, individual, unique, custom, not the same as everyone else, are a few words that come to mind.

Some people don't have to make turns on their motorcycle...

Oh wait.

I wouldn't want one.

While I can appreciate the beauty of some choppers, I would never own one if it were my only bike. I know a lot of people think I'm an idiot for putting apes on a bagger. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, what you do with your money is none of my business.

What's there to 'get'?, people are different, not everybody wants to ride around with a stock bike, I happen to like choppers, the old school choppers that is, if you want to ride around on a stock bike, go for it, I'll not bash anyone's bike, let's just ride......

I'm sure these folks have more than one bike, like myself. A bike for all weather riding, and a bike for nice days to cruise with. I do agree with the all out stretched choppers though, they can't be too comfortable to ride.

But to each their own, and you have to respect that.

Just think if the guy with the chopper told you "take it for a spin"......good or bad, tell me you wouldn't smile when you got on it and pulled away......There you go.

As you said, most if not all of these are pieces of art. And like it is with all things, what appeals to some won't appeal to others - and that's a good thing. As the old saying goes "try to please all and you will please none".

We all ride what suits us.
