If I'm correct in my young age, a chopper, used to be a bike that was stripped of all unnecessary hardware, thus chopping the excess. now, they should be called stretchers, or alphabet-turners. lol

I build a 68 BSA chop w hardtail and 16 over paughco springer. 9ft long with real z bars and a trident sissybar. Scary bike to ride. But I dont get those factory choppers.

Meant to type "bobbers" but accidentally typed "boobies" out of habit, eh... might want to clear the computer's history before the spouse logs on.

I think a good set of choppers is important. My dad had fake choppers. I know a lot of bikers are on a strictly liquid diet, so I can see where they might not feel the need for them.

It's not that I don't "Get" choppers, It's that I don't "Get" what these young builders CALL choppers nowadays. When I hear "Chopper" I think of the bike in the picture. It's my buddies 65 Pan/Shovel, Paugcho rigid frame, girder front end. I've ridden it many times over the years and to me it's very easy to handle. It's a dream to ride on highways, Just flop your boots overtop of the forwards, lean back and cruise. And Ok, the brakes aren't the best but it turns corners just fine. Just my personal opinion but NO Harley sounds quite as nice as a Shovelhead with drag pipes.
