Default Broken spokes ... who did it??????

Just got back from Hot Springs Arkansas and took my Road King to the dealership for a 10,000 mile service and get a new rear tire. I put a thousand miles on the bike this trip with over 500 miles riding in the 80 mph range.

The service department just called and told me I have 2 broken spokes that are side by side and I either need to buy a complete set of spokes or a new wheel.

My question is … wouldn’t the bike have wobbeled traveling 80 mph getting home with 2 broken spokes ? I think they might have broken them when they were replacing my tire. I just don’t know.

Man that sucks. That's why a lot of guys (me included) take a complete set of photos of the entire bike to document anything that might be wrong, scratched, or broken before service. Spokes on a rear wheel might be hard to spot though on a RK. I would think you would feel 2 broken spokes above 50MPH for sure.....I bet they broke them, but there is no way of proving it now if they are animate that they didn't do it. Bad deal

no need to replace wheel or buy a full spoke set.

these guys will make any spoke imaginable & sell individually.

sometimes the easiset way to get the correct spoke is to remove one from the rim(same side) and sent it to them. or they may be able to set you up with just your bike info.

just got back from the dealership and I must say it wasn't them and it wasn't me. The spokes were broke right at the hub where they make the turn. Looks like they were cut off clean with a hacksaw.

I guess if I had to put the blame on anyone it would be myself. I have not checked for tightness since I serviced it last. Guys, check for tightness every 1000 miles. They get a little loose and waller around in the hole they will break.
