How to remove frame stickers?
#12
I used the wife's hairdryer to remove some stickers on my new bike yesterday. It worked great except it looks to me like the d#@*ed stickers are designed to break apart as they are being removed. It took a little time and a lot of patience, but in time, they all came off. WD40 and a little elbow grease removed the residue that was left behind.

Don't remove those stickers. That is the Federal ID label. While I don't think it's illegal to remove them, it's the only way to prove that the frame is original,as replacement frames do not have them. I have rejected bikes I was thinking of buying because that label was missing. Dunno if it was totalled & rebuilt or not. If you really don't like 'em, buy those chrome downtube covers & put 'em on over them.

I removed them (with a hair dryer). On my '00 FXDL the VIN is engraved on the frame down tube directly above where the stickers are located. Isn't that sufficient ID to prove the frame is original?

The HD ser # is also engraved on the right side of the steering neck on my '10 F-Bob, so I think I'm good in that dep't.
