Default Laced wheel corrosion

My 09 RKC is developing some rust on the spoked rear wheel. I clean it regularly but cant seem to stop it from forming. Has anyone else had the same problem?

The front tie on my 08 sporty. I cleaned and cleaned and waxed, but it never did stop. Only a portion of the spokes rusted, so I think a dog wizzed on it. I'm gonna buy some stainless spokes soon and relace my wheel. The service manuall shows how to get the lace pattern.

After you have cleaned the wheel, you need to seal the chrome. I use Blackfire's Wet Diamond All Metal Sealant. One application lasts a season. I use it on all my chrome and aluminum. It doesn't discolor or peal and prevents brake dust from sticking.

Another thing to do for preventative maintenance is to get some Lyndall Z brake pads. No brake dust means easier maintenance.

My spokes stated to rust after about 1 year and that was with all the cleaning i could throw at it. On inspection they seemed to be rusting from the inside and its a familiar story at least with Street Bobs. I put it down to pour quality prep and chroming. I decided to change to stainless spokes and aluminium rims and i,m much happier.

Yes sir. I have had them for a while now and I see absolutely no brake dust on my wheels. I wish I would have got these a while back.

Default Has anyone been able to get the MoCo to cover this damage?

I took it to the local dealer and got the ABC explanation on chrome. Not much help but he took pictures and will submit to the MoCo.

MoCo are dealing with the early rusting of wheels problem . Ive just picked up a new fat bob , and the salesman pointed out that Harley no longer cover the wheels in the 2 year warranty , as soon as you ride away there your responsibility not theres , NICE , from there point of view problem solved
