Default H-D to benefit from earthquake?

The business news on the radio this morning was speculating that Harley could benefit from a shortage of Japanese motorcycles because of parts and production shortfalls due to the recent earthquake. They also suggested that Harley dealers will be less inclined to bargain on price, partly because of their competition's weakened position but also due to Harley's own production cuts. I wonder if Honda is regretting their decision to stop Goldwing production in Ohio?

Now if H-D really had it together they would donate to help them - think about it Public Relations! And be helping others at the same time.

The MOCO donated to the Haiti earthquake http://www.harley-davidson.com/wcm/C...&newsYear=2010. Why not to Japan also?

How many Harley's do they think they can crank out before they shut down the line due to lack of Japanese sourced parts?
Media never really does quite think it all the way through do they?

Detroit can have a comeback if imports become scarse... Nothing like a natural disaster's way of booming the economy!

The Hitachi plants that were destroyed make the MAF sensors used in the entire auto industry.

Many of the Japanese parts for HD are made in their US plants.
