Default Used Wide Glide

I may be buying my brother-in-law's bike, a '99 Wide Glide. I think it's a twin cam.

What I would like to know is: are there any quality or safety-related problem areas? Please feel free to make additional comments on the WGs from this time frame.

If I'm not mistaken, are all the WGs from '99 to '05 or '06 (whenever they stopped production) mechanically the same? Cosmetically?

I've seen some really nice WGs on the forum. Thanks.

Find out what work was done to it from new. research issues like the cam bearing as well as the cam chain tensioner. I would install a gear drive for the cam & loose the chain, swap out the cam bearing while your in there.
check your swing arm where your rear wheel bolts on. look for cracks in the swing arm where the axle goes through.
Hatch.

'preciate it.

I went back and checked a few of the pics my brother-in-law sent me. Turns out it's not a TC.

If it's not a TC then it's not a 99 if it's a Dyna Wide Glide. The Softail line in 99 was still the EVO but the Dyna and Touring models were TCs.

Should be able to run the VIN and see if any work was done, at HD anyway.
