Aren't you sick of people telling U to "be careful"?
I'm soooo sick of people telling me to be careful. They tighten up their mouth in disapproval and say, in a whiny voice, "do you know how dangerous that is"? "I know someone who was killed on a motorcycle"! STFU
I have taken to asking them the circumstances of the person they "knew" who died on a motorcycle. I think it is the same guy that died and everyone. nationwide, uses him as an example!!
Just two days ago a nosey guy at work told me that the reason he doesn't ride is that he had 4 friends die on motorcycles!!! FOUR! BS This guys pink azz never touched the seat of a bike. He said he was just at a wake for a "friend" who died one year ago. So I asked him what were the circumstances of that guys death. As it turns out, he was returning from Jones Beach at Midnight in the rain on a crotch rocket! And don't tell me he wasn't drinking all day!! I'm sorry the guy died, of course, but you can't be a stupid S*** and ride a bike. Most of these "accidents" you hear about ar a result of sheer recklessness.
I have been on bikes of one kind or another since I was 8 years old. Now, suddenly, when I'm 45, all of these geniuses think I need a warning and that they can teach me something about riding. I am the owner of the company and the word is out that advice or dissaproval about my riding will not be tolerated. Why did I do that? BECAUSE I CAN!! Do I need a better reason?
I am beginning to show anger when people say things to me. This dork at work I mentioned before told my wife about the "four deaths". People tell her all the time how "dangerous" it is and then I have to hear it from her too! EVERYBODY SHUT UP AND LET ME RIDE!!! How do you feel about it, 'cause I KNOW it happens to all of us.

Most people who tell me "be careful" mean well. The ones who say "it's so dangerous", i reply, it's more damgerous to cross the street on foot than to ride!

I always respond "It's so dangerous I bought my wife a Harley too and a Million Dollar Life Insurance policy!" tell them to go **** themselves. Now "Be careful" I appreciate that especially from fellow riders!

My mother always does that, so I go the opposite route. I tell her "Nope, I'm gonna see if I can ride a wheelie from work all the way home, I'm going to moon a cop while doing so, and I'm going to be holding a pair of scissors".
Then when she hints about me finally getting married I tell her I've been gay for years. [sm=badbadbad.gif]

I'll take my "be carefuls" from wherever they come even if they are whiney and obnoxious...most cagers are cool but some (especially on weekends) are complete jerks.

Hey: don't get me wrong folks. It's not the other riders or the people who genuinely care who I'm talking about here. It's the busy-bodys that are trying to make a statement that is much broader than a mere "be careful". Anyone who has been on a bike for more than a week knows the ones I am talking about.

What bothers me most is when my own wife will say becarefull and are you going to wear your helmet just as I'm walking out the door. Crap man how can I not wear one now?
