X3
In Florida we ride year round.
Wouldn't know what to do if I had to put toys away for months out of the year.

Florida here also, picture in my signature was taken in Jan, in the 70's that day. Ride all year and actually nicer Oct - May when it's not hot, or rainy season, usually during the rainy season it rains every other day, but only for a couple of hours, not all day.

Iowa, mid April through mid October. Helmet not required. The Nanny State mentality has not completely set in here yet. Goes without saying that there are better places to be for riding.

Default stay away from WI

I hate to say it, because I love WI, but if riding season is important to you stay away. Last year it ran fom mid March to end of October, but this year may be "nine months of Winter and three months of bad sledding". Seriously, this years season still hasn't started. In Lacrosse yesterday it was 59 and bikes were out. 90 miles away, where I live. It was 39 and I still have snow on my porch. Roads are full of salt and gravel, as a mattter of fact got my windshield chipped yesterday on way to LaCrosse! You could snowmobile in winter, though.

Actually I love the south, been here my whole life. I am also a bit of an adventurer and want to try out other parts of the country. Luckily, the south isn't going anywhere and I can always return. I am finishing up a PhD at Alabama (Roll Tide) right now and there are opportunities in the south but I am making a choice to give something else a shot.

No inspections in CA which is funny since the bikes sold out here have all the smog crap on them (my Dyna even cam with a Catalytic Converter). I'd say either here or the Phoenix, AZ area.

I like So Cal because in a day you can start down by the beach and by the afternoon be up in the mountains then back down into the desert for the evening. There's been many times where just minutes from my house I've taken guests from out of town and surprised them by some of the scenery we have in an "urban" setting.

Phoenix is nice because it gets less rainfall than we do so even more riding time but the heat is much higher there in summer. (we get to about 105s and they'll be up in the 114-118 range with more regularity)

In southeast Wisconsin I typically can occasionally get out a few days here and there in March/April. Typically End of April is when the bike gets moved outta the shed and into the garage.
October is where I start riding less and the bike will end up moving outta the garage and back to the shed.

Year round in SoCal, and I ride year round. There are also some of the best roads and motorcycle destinations in the world.

I not recommending you move to California. I not recommending anyone move to California. In fact I'm leaving as soon as I retire.
