Default The smell of anti-freeze

gets me every time. I always do a double take and then realize I'm on an air-cooled bike. Maybe one day I won't fall for this.

Heh...and burning oil. A few days ago I was coming out of some backroads where I was doing some agressive riding on....into a main road with some intersections. Came behind and next a few cars in lanes...could smell some horrible oil....found myself wondering if I sprung a leak or something. Get to a stoplight and have a chance to look down and around...looking for some wisp of smoke coming up from my pipes or dropping on the pave...nope..musta been some car still ahead of me. Probably that beatup old ricer Honda Civic a few cars in front of me with bondo and the looks of 250k miles on it with thousand dollar rims and a coffee can fart exhaust.

Man I'm glad I'm not the only one! Every time I smell oil I start looking to see if it is me. I don't know why, it's never mine causing it.

I did however walk out of Wal-Mart once right after a good rain and see a huge rainbow trail(oil and water) and was kinda laughing thinking, WOW, somebody has a huge oil leak. I followed that damn trail right up to my truck. Turns out one of my trans lines decided to spring a leak. I felt like and idiot!

No, on occasions I will get a whiff of it while riding and think the bike is over heating (which the bike is air cooled and not water cooled). I also hate the burning oil smell as well.

Sometimes I'll ride by a Red Lobster and think some woman has been sitting on my bike...

One of the things I enjoy about riding is the different smells. There are good odors, bad odors, and odd odors. It always makes me grin when I catch myself looking for whatever caused the odor I am smelling. If I believed in a past life. I would wondered if I was a hound in a past life.
