A friend of mine has a Bob.He got rid of his rear turn signals and installed the Kurakyn Paneca rear bake light with built in turn signals.So is that legal or do you need seperate turn signals?? It looks great that would be great if it is legal.

I don't see why not....many customs don't have turn signals at all.

 

In Alabama, all you have to have is one red light, visible from the rear.

 

turn signals are not a requirement in any state. BUT if they are installed they must work. most laws also state that turn signals "should" be used not "must" be used.

 

I believe they are legal.

Some states do require turn signals. The link above shows Wisconsin does. Plug in any state you want and you'll get a comprehensive of that states laws regarding motorcycles.

 

Here in CA, turn signals are required for newer vehicles. If the vehicle didn't come with them, you don't need to retrofit, but it's illegal to remove them. The Panacea light is not DOT approved, so it's technically illegal where signals are required.

Personally, I wouldn't use one. A friend has one, and the signals are pretty much useless. I like to be seen when I signal.
