True that. May I ask how tall your bars are?

I went from stock drag bars on a 1200 sportster custom to 12" apes on the stock risers...LOVED IT!! It handled a little different, but I wouldn't call it "better" or "worse"...just took getting used to being in a different (and MUCH more comfortable) riding position.
I'm a short guy (5' 6" tall) and I really felt a LOT better riding with the 12" bars.
My current bike (Wide Glide) has 18" apes on a 2" riser...and it is awesome.

Go with the 12 or 14" apes...you won't regret it.

If you had 12" with stock risers it means your hands were at 16" from the triple tree? Weren't your hands above your shoulders? I'm 6' and 12" + shorty risers would put my hands at 13"...

I went from stock bars on the custom riser to 16" apes. It was the best mod I have ever done. It completely eliminated my back/shoulder pain and I am very comfortable with them. Yes, they did take a little getting used to but now they are like second nature. I throw the bike into turns just like I did with my drag bars.
From the pics, you can see the difference.

Thanks for your comment. Your bike looks sweet and I'm glad apes are working well for you. Gives me an extra incentive

Have had them all.At the time enjoyed the apes for the bike they were on.Then built a hot rod with drag bars, again for the bike the bars were perfect. Now on baggers love the Buckhorns.

Thanks dog for your comment! What kind of bike did you have the apes on?
