UPDATE..Which was first? Bad ingnition switch, or what?
https://www.hdforums.com/forum/gener...h-or-what.html
I decided to buy a new switch and switch harness. Total cost for the parts under 60 bucks from J&P Cycles. What's funny is I called my local HD dealer and found they didn't sell the switch harness that I'd have to buy an entire wiring harness .. for $250.00.
The switch came in yesterday, the harness is on back-order. No problem for now as I clipped the section of melted harness plug off and 'redneck-engineered' the switch to get it back together. IT WORKED AND MY HARLEY'S RUNNING AGAIN!
For those that said the extra wire running from the switch power wire to the passing lamp switch was the problem, I've disconnected that. The passing lamps aren't working right now but I have another wire I'll use to hook up to an empty place on the fuse box for that later.
I should get everything back together and running right soon after the switch harness comes in.
Thanks for everyone's responses and solutions as that really helped me figure out what to do to get it running right.
